Type Approval in Kiribati
The Communications Commission of Kiribati (CCK) authorizes the use of equipment in Kiribati only when it complies with internationally recognized technical standards for radio, telecommunications, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and safety. These standards align with the guidelines of:
- ACMA – Australian Communications and Media Authority
- CE – European Commission
- FCC – Federal Communications Commission (USA)
- ITU – International Telecommunication Union
- How to Apply
- Download the application form from the link provided at the bottom.
- Email: Send the completed form to typeapproval@cck.ki, and copy info@cck.ki.
- In Person / Post: Deliver your application to the CCK office.
- A separate application is required for each model equipment type.
- Applications will not be processed without all required documents.
- Processing time: Up to 7 calendar days after a complete application is received.
2. Before You Apply
Ensure you have the following:
✔ Declaration or Certificate of Conformity
✔ Test Reports from an accredited laboratory (ACMA, CE, FCC, or ITU)
✔ All other supporting documents listed below
Required Documents
Your application must include:
- Declaration or Certificate of Conformity
- Test reports showing compliance with:
- Effective use of radio spectrum
- Safe interconnection with public networks
- Health and safety requirements
- Electromagnetic compatibility
- Original product catalogue/manual describing the equipment and its functions
- Description of any repair services available in Kiribati
- Proof of payment of the Type Approval application fee
3. Approval and Validity
Once approved, CCK will:
- Update the Type Approval Register on its website
- Issue an Approval Certificate to the applicant
Validity:
- The certificate is valid for approved equipment type as long as it remains compliant.
- If an application is rejected, CCK will provide reasons. You may resubmit after addressing the issues.
4. Fees
- Application fees are non-refundable.
